System Options: Fingerprint Reader

Use Fingerprint Reader

Default: No

Use this option to turn on or off the ability to access an account using a person's fingerprint. Turning this option on will ensure that the fingerprint reader is properly registered and will display the fingerprint access button in the Kiosk.

Fingerprints can be added to an account by updating a person's account in the Kiosk.

Quality Threshold (System wide)

Default: Binarized Result

When enrolling a fingerprint, you can opt to show the resulting image in a variety of ways. Use this option to specify the way you want to display the scanned image.

Save Reference Image (System wide)

Default: Yes

When a fingerprint is acquired from the fingerprint reader, it is stored in the database in 2 forms: the scanned image and the binary data. The scanned image is used for reference only whereas the binary data is used for the actual matching and identification process.

To increase performance and decrease database size, you can opt to store only the binary data in the database. A default fingerprint image will be displayed in place of the actual fingerprint image.

Use this option to specify whether or not to save a reference image in the database.

Template Rotation (System wide)

Default: 180º

If you have opted to use templates, you can use this option to set the maximum number of degrees the images will be rotated during comparisons.

Because no one ever places their finger on the scanner exactly the same way twice, scanned images may need to be rotated when they are being compared to the reference images to find the best match. The more the images are rotated, the longer it takes to find a match—but the more likely it will be that a match is found.

Quality Threshold

Default: 30%

If you have opted to use quality screening, you must set the percentage of similar features that two fingerprints must meet or exceed in order to be considered a true match. Setting this number too high may result in a high false rejection rate (valid fingerprints not being identified). Setting this number too low may result in a high false acceptance rate especially when the scanned fingerprint does not have a reference print in the database.

Use this option to set the quality threshold.

Minimum Minutiae Count (System wide)

Default: No less than 10

If the Require Minimum Minutiae option is turned on, then this value indicates the minimum amount of minutiae that must be detected in a scanned fingerprint before it is processed.

Advanced: Template FAR (System wide)

Default: 0.001%

This is an advanced system option used to set the False Acceptance Rate of the fingerprint reader. This option should not be changed unless directed to do so by Elexio.

Advanced: Auto Activate License

Default: Yes

This is an advanced system option used to turn on or off the auto activation of the fingerprint license. This option should not be changed unless directed to do so by Elexio.

Advanced: Processor ID Format

Default: 65|96

This is an advanced system option used to set hardware format of the computer's microprocessor. This option should not be changed unless directed to do so by Elexio.
