The Classes link on the Administration screen is where you can manage the key discipleship development classes that your church offers. These would be classes that you require all adults to go through as a part of your program to help people grow in their relationship with Christ and the church.  For example, a key component of the Purpose Driven Church model by Rick Warren, is offering milestone classes to help facilitate the assimilation and disciple-development of people into the church. These Core Classes offer an opportunity to challenge people to make commitments to Christ and the church.

Elexio Database comes pre-loaded with Class 101, 201, 301, 401 and 501.  If your church uses equivalent classes then we recommend that you use the pre-loaded classes as there is special programming and reporting attached to them.  You are free to edit the Name of the classes to fit your church.

This section is NOT for tracking Sunday School classes. We recommend that you put Sunday School classes in the Small Groups section or list as a class but track attendance from the Attendance and Events screen.

For information on how Database handles Classes as opposed to Small Groups, Ministries, or Services, see Defining Classes, Small Groups, Ministries, Services, Mailing Lists, and Events.

Tracking Class Involvement vs Attendance:  Once the class is setup, then you can enter detailed records on who has been involved in the class or attended the class.  This is done using the Group Action Wizard or manually on the People screen.  You can track class involvement or attendance or both.

  1. Class Involvement is used for classes that might have a covenant to sign at the end of the class, like a Membership Class or Class 101 thru 501 in a Purpose Driven process.  Or if you just want to know if someone completed the requirements for a class, use the Involvement section on the People screen.

  2. But if you want detailed records for attendance at multiple sessions for the class then you might want to record this on the People screen on the Attendance & Events section.   For example let's say you have a class that goes on for 6 weeks and you want a detailed record of every person's attendance each week.  There may even be a cost associated with the class.  We would recommend recording Attendance records instead of Involvement records.
