Access Your Events Calendar Outside of Database

Did you know you can access your Database Calendar in 3rd party services like Google Calendar and Outlook (Live.com)? Using Google Calendar, you can even embed your calendar into your website (Elexio's Website CMS solution will also provide this integration).

In order to access your Database Calendar in a 3rd party service, you will need to generate a URL that links to your Database Calendar. Below is the tool you need to generate your URL. Please provide your Database Activation Key, select your Time Zone, and select Generate URL. This will create a URL that provides events in iCal format.

(Please note: for events to appear on your exported calendar, you will need to select the Elexio Website checkbox in the publicity tab of the Event Wizard).

Your URL is:

Now that you have your URL, you will need to copy it and paste it into your preferred 3rd party service, such as Google Calendar and Outlook (Live.com). Since these two services are heavily used, we've included instructions for each.

Note: If your event requires registration, this option will not be available in a Non-Elexio Website calendar.  Additionally, it may take at least 24 hours to show on the Google calendar. This is because Google uses a Pull, not a Push system.  This is not something that Elexio can control.

For Google Calendar

  1. Sign in to your Google Account at www.google.com/calendar.
  2. Select the dropdown arrow to the right of the Other calendars option on the lefthand side of your screen.
  3. Select Add by URL from the dropdown menu.
  4. Paste the address that you generated above in the provided field.
  5. Select the Add Calendar button. Your Database calendar will appear in the Other calendars option on the lefthand side of your screen.

For Outlook (Live.com)

(Note: while you can share an external calendar you've subscribed to on outlook.com, you cannot embed it on a website).

  1. Sign in to your Outlook Account at www.live.com.
  2. On the upper lefthand corner of your sreen, select the dropdown arrow to the right of the Outlook logo. Select Calendar.
  3. Select Import from the menu at the top of your screen.
  4. Select Subscribe from the menu on the lefthand side of your screen.
  5. Paste the address that you generated above in the Calendar URL field. Add a Calendar name and choose a Calendar color and Charm.
  6. Select the Subscribe button. Your Database calendar will appear in the Other calendars option on the lefthand side of your screen.
