Saving, Emailing, & Printing Files from your Mac

To save, email, or print files from your Database while working on a Mac, your Microsoft Remote Desktop application must be configured correctly. If you're not yet using the newest Remote Desktop Connection, find setup instructions here

Saving Files

To save files to your Mac from Database, you must export them to your local drive.

  1. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop app, select your Database connection, then click the edit button. 
  2. Select the Redirection Tab.
  3. You should one or more folders available that you can save to. 
  4. If you don't, or to set up a new location, click on the plus icon at the bottom left, then select Browse from the drop down menu.
  5. Select a folder and click Ok.
  6. Click the red circle to close the edit window. Your changes are automatically saved. 

The next time you save a file from the Database, the folder location you added should be available.

Emailing Reports or Files

You cannot email a report or file from within the Microsoft Remote Desktop connection to your Database. You must save the file to your computer then email it as an attachment using your Mail Client. Follow the instruction above to select where you can save files.

Printing Reports or Files

If your Microsoft Remote Desktop connection is configured correctly, you can print reports and files from your Database. If you're not able to print, check the below.

  1. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop app, select your Database connection, then click the edit button. 
  2. Select the Session tab.
    Forward Printing Devices
  3. Ensure that the Forward printing devices checkbox is selected. As long as this option is checked, you should be able to print to a printer set-up on your Mac.
