How to connect Elexio Database and Elexio Check-In to a local database server

Overview

Elexio Check-In and Elexio Database can both connect to a database on a local server on your network. The benefit of this is increased performance as well as lower maintenance in that the server will handle all of the synchronization tasks on a regularly scheduled basis using the Elexio Amp Sync Agent service.

This document details how to set up the applications to work locally and assumes that you have configured your server for offline access

Connect Elexio Database to your local server

  1. Install the Elexio Database applicaion from our Application Installation Page
  2. Start the application
  3. On the login screen press Options to expand the Login screen
  4. Select Network as the Connection type
  5. Enter the name of the server running the Elexio database. The server name can be found by clicking on the Start button on the server, then right-clicking on "Computer" and selecting Properties.
  6. Enter the SQL TCP Port in the TCP Port box.
  7. Enter your User Name and Password and press OK.  The connection will be saved and from now on the computer will always connect to the local server.

Connect Elexio Check-In to your local server

  1. If Database is already installed on the same machine as Elexio Check-In, then you don't have to do anything to Elexio Check-In because it will use the default connection as setup in Elexio Database.  But if Elexio Database is not installed, then you will need to configure Elexio Check-In. So install the Elexio Check-In from our Application Installation Page if needed.
  2. Start the application
  3. Get out of Kiosk mode by clicking the hidden button in the lower left hand corner of the screen.  Enter the Master PIN code.  The default is 123456.  (Your system admin may have changed this!)
  4. Click on Database Connections
  5. SelectLocal as the Connection type
  6. Enter the name of the server running the Elexio database as you did above. The server name can be found by clicking on the Start button on the server, then right-clicking on "Computer" and selecting Properties.
  7. Enter the SQL TCP Port in the TCP Port box.
  8. Click the button to Go back to Elexio Check-In and launch it into Kiosk Mode.  The connection will be saved and from now on the computer will always connect to the local server.
