Setting up Email on an iPhone, iPad, or Android mobile device

Follow the instructions below to set up Mail Enable access on the iPhone/iPad/Android. As new mobile devices and updates are continually released, the exact steps may differ from what is shown below, but the information you use and general concepts will be the same.

Automatic Setup for any device using IMAP

MailEnable provides a configuration script for setting up a mail account on your device. The screenshots below are from an iPhone, but similar steps will be taken on Android devices as well. Please refer to the instructions below:

  1.  On your mobile device, navigate to http://mail.[YourDomain]/Mobile/clients.aspx
    Setup
  2. Deselect the Exchange ActiveSync option and click Configure

  3. Tap Install
    Consent
  4. Tap Next

  5. Tap Install
    Installing
  6. Tap Done and then open you Mail app to see the new IMAP Inbox account and download your mail
    Confirm

 

If you prefer, setup can be performed manually on any device:

 

iPhone/iPad Set-up

Unless otherwise noted, replace 'your_domain.com' with your actual domain name.

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap Add Account
  4. Tap Other
  5. Under New Account screen Enter your name, email address, and password in the appropriate fields. The Address field should be your full email address in the format 'username@your_domain.com.'
  6. Tap Save
  7. Tap IMAP from the tab
  8. Under Incoming Mail Server, fill in the Host Name field as 'mail.your_domain.com.' fill in the username as your full e-mail address in the format 'username@your_domain.com
  9. Under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), fill in the Host Name field as 'mail.your_domain.com.' fill in the username as your full e-mail address in the format 'username@your_domain.com, fill in the password as your e-mail password
  10. Tap Save.
  11. A prompt with a message will appear 'Cannot Connect using SSL' Tap the Yes Button. (Note: If you get this message twice, tap yes twice).

Android Set-up

Unless otherwise noted, replace 'your_domain.com' with your actual domain name.

Note: The specific steps could vary depending on your phone.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Application button.
  2. Tap the Email/Mail icon.
  3. If this is your first email account, you will be presented with an email setup screen. Tap the Next button. Otherwise, press the Menu button in your inbox, tap More ... Icon, and tap Add account.
  4. In the Type your account email address box, enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com).
  5. In the second box, enter the password associated with your email account.
  6. Tap the Manual setup button.
  7. In the protocol drop down select the IMAP account button.
  8. Enter the following information in the fields provided:
    • Username-Enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com).
    • Password-Enter the password associated with your email account.
    • IMAP server-Enter the server name as (e.g., mail.mydomain.com).          
    • Port-Enter the port number: 143
    • Security type-Select SSL (none).
  9. Tap the Next button. The device will connect to the internet and check your incoming settings.
  10. On the Outgoing server settings screen, enter the following information in the fields provided:
    • SMTP server-Enter the server name as (e.g., mail.mydomain.com)
    • Port-Enter the secure port number: 25
    • Security type-Select SSL (none).
  11. Tap the Require sign-in checkbox.
  12. In the Username box, enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com).
  13. In the Password box, enter the password associated with your email account.
  14. Tap the Next button. The device will connect to the internet and check your outgoing settings.
  15. On the Account options screen, make changes, as desired.
  16. Tap the Next button. On the Set up email screen, enter your name in the Type your name field. This is the name that will be displayed in the From field of email messages you send.
  17. Tap the Done button.
