Creating and Removing Links

Your site probably includes many different types of links.  This article explains how to add links in the basic content area of your site, the Rich Content block.

Quick Start

  1. While changing the content on a page, click the Rich Content block where you would like to create a link to open it in the editor (see Getting Started and Editing Text).
  2. Highlight the text or select the image you would like to make into a link.
    • You can select an image by clicking on it. Handles will appear around an image when it is selected.
  3. In the editor toolbar, click on the Insert Link icon. A dialog box with five options will appear.
  4. Select the type of link you would like to create, provide the appropriate information, then click Finish. Your text or image will now be linked.

Link Options

  1. Page on this site
    • Clicking this option will bring up a list of your site pages as they are organized. Select the page you want to link to and then click Finish
  2. File on this site
    • Clicking this option will bring up a list of your files. Select the file you want to link to and then click Finish.
    • When linked to, many files will open with the user's default software for that type of file.  You can use this option to display various types of files such as pdf, doc, mp3, mov, wmv, etc.
  3. Another Web site
    • Before choosing this option, it is helpful to go to the web page on the site you want to link to and copy the URL
A URL is a website address. Example: http://www.SampleDomain.com
A URL is a website address. Example: http://www.SampleDomain.com
      (address).
    • Clicking on this option will bring up a text box for the web address.  Insert the URL information and click Finish.  (Make sure to include the http:// in the address.)
  4. Email address
    • Insert the email address that you would like to link to in the text box provided, and click Finish.
    • To include more than one email address, separate each by a semi-colon and a space. (Ex: email1@elexio.com; email2@elexio.com)
  5. Anchor on this page (Jump Links)
    • This is a two-step process. First, you must insert anchors that you want to jump to within the page that you are working on. Then you must create the link to that anchor.
    • Step 1: To create an anchor, highlight the text that you want to anchor to and choose Anchor from the editing tools menu (the icon that looks like a bookmark). On the screen that appears, enter a name for the anchor. After clicking ok to finish, you should see a small anchor icon next to the text you highlighted.
    • Step 2: Highlight the text you want to use as your link, choose Insert/Edit Link, choose Anchor on this Page, select the anchor you created and click Ok.
