File Gallery

A File Gallery displays a list of files, and can be set to automatically update and generate a podcast or RSS feed. It's a great way to display sermons with audio or video files or to provide a list of documents.

For other options for sermon or media display, see Media CenterAudio Block, or Video Blocks.

  1. In the Add Block
This selection box displays when adding a new block to a content area or when changing a design block.

    dialog box, select File Gallery.
  2. In Gallery Options, first choose a method for telling the gallery which files to display:
    • Entire Folder: (This is the most commonly used option) The gallery will display all files in a specific folder in your Files area
The area of your site where files (images, documents, etc.) for use on pages are stored. Accessed by clicking the Files icon in the site control bar. See Uploading Files

.  Under Source Folder, click the Browse button to select the folder with the images you want to display. Check off the Include Sub-Folders checkbox to include files in any folders found within your source folder.
    • Select Files: the gallery will display only the specific files you select.  Under File Gallery Items click Add a File to add files to the list. You can select a list item and use Edit File Location to change the file referenced. To remove a file from the list, click the red delete icon.
    • Use Custom Sorting: check this box  to control the order in which your files are displayed. To change the order, select a file name and use the up and down arrow buttons provided. Note: checking this box removes the Default Sorting option.
  3. Still under Gallery Options, set how you want your list to display:
    • Columns to display controls how much information about each file will be displayed. You can reorder the list of columns or turn column on or off.
    • Default Sorting sets the order for the File list's intial display (users can still click a heading to change the order for the they are viewing the files).
  4. Upload a New File: This button will display as a convenient shortcut when a user with editing rights comes to the page. It will only display if the gallery is set to display an Entire Folder. This allows administrators to set up a user to upload new files without giving access to the entire Files area.
  5. Secure Files: If the File Gallery listing includes secure files, a "Log in to view secure files" reminder will display if the page viewer is not logged in.
  6. The Podcasting/RSS tab provides options for the information sent with a podcast or RSS feed.
  7. Under Podcasting/RSS > Advanced Options you can
    • Set a Custom URL for the RSS or iTunes feeds. This gives you the ability to use a web feed management tool (such as FeedBurner) to further manage the details of your RSS or iTunes feed.
    • Turn off the RSS and iTunes links for the File Gallery.
