Video

While you have various options for video to a page (see "Other options" below), a simple approach is to use the Video Player block.

  1. In the Add block

dialog box, select the Video Player block (see Creating and Arranging Blocks).  The video player should appear on your page with the Video controls ready for your information
  2. Under Video URL, click on the Browse button to open your Files area and select the video file you'd like to play (see Upload and Organize Files). If your video file is not found within your Files area (you may have it stored on another web server) enter the URL

to the file in the box provided.
Note: do not use this area to link a YouTube or similar video (see Inserting Code: the HTML Block).
  3. Use Preview Image URL to set an image that will display on the video screen before the video begins to play.  The same Browse or Video URL options are available as in step 2 above. The default size of the preview image should be 480 px by 270 px.
  4. Video files must be in a MP4 format. We recommend that you use the H.264 codec for best results.  If your video file is not in one of these formats, you will need to use other software to convert it.

    • You can use video file conversion software.  Many free or low-priced options are available on the web.
  5. If the Start playing the video automatically box is checked the video will begin playing as soon as the site visitor opens the page.
  6. By default your video will display at its current pixel dimensions, though the controls will stretch to fit the full width of the layout you are using. If you'd like the video player to be larger or smaller, enter a Video Player Height and Video Player Width for your video player in pixels.
  7. Click Ok when you are finished.

Advanced Settings

  1. Under Advanced Settings, select one of the Video Player Themes: dark, list-dark, or scroll-dark.

Other options for using video on your site

  1. Use the MediaRush Multi-media center (see Elexio Infinity Blocks).
  2. Embed a video player from another provider such as YouTube (see Inserting Code: the HTML Block).
  3. Use a design (or have one customized) with a video player built into the design of the page.
